OSAS conducts values formation seminar for first year students

The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) spearheaded a values formation seminar for first year students at the UNP Gymnasium on May 29, 2024.

As the students enter a new chapter of their life, college is a time for growth, discovery, and transformation. It is essential for students to reflect on their values that guide them through their journey and beyond.

The seminar aimed to enhance the holistic development of students by fostering values, character formation, and social responsibility. This aligns with UNP’s mission to “produce globally skilled and morally upright professionals instilled with rich cultural values.” The seminar provided a platform for students to introspect and understand the core values that shape their actions and decisions.

Mr. Randolfo Lopez, adviser of the Student Council, served as the resource speaker for the activity. In his presentation, Mr. Lopez emphasized the significance of values and shared his personal experiences as a student and son. He highlighted the importance of learning basic good manners and right conduct, particularly in social interactions, for students to develop into well-rounded individuals.

Reflecting on values enables them to develop a strong sense of self-identity and moral compass, which is essential for making informed choices and building meaningful relationships. The seminar also provided an opportunity for students to engage with their peers and professors.
