"I am a proud and grateful graduate of the University of Northern Philippines (BSN Class of 1996 and first batch in the Master of Arts in Teaching Nursing, Class of 1998). I also served as a faculty member from 1998-2004. During my time at UNP, the curriculum was balanced, relevant, and validated through a rigorous higher education accreditation process. My rich experiences as a student spanned from receiving high-quality didactic classroom and clinical education to rewarding immersion in the community. A clear strength that I saw and one that I can attest to up to this day was the education I received focused on conducting research studies. Every student who finishes the BSN program sees the entire research process. Since graduating from my BSN and master’s programs at UNP, I had the opportunity to work and obtain further education in some of the most prestigious institutions in the world. I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the Johns Hopkins University. Most recently, I was appointed as a lecturer for the DNP program at Yale School of Nursing. My full-time role is with New York-Presbyterian, a top-ranking academic medical center in the US, affiliated with two Ivy League medical schools (Columbia University & Cornell University). In each of these institutions, I felt fully prepared for the job expectations and the rigor of the academic program. UNP had successfully forged the path for me to succeed in every aspect of my professional advancement."

"It wasn't an easy journey because I was bombarded with overwhelming responsibilities since I was designated as the Dean of College of Business Management and Entrepreneurship of ISPSC Tagudin and, at the same time, the rigorous requirements of the DBA degree. The knowledge and skills acquired in my degree helped me to widen my horizon in dealing with organizational conflicts, critical decision-making situations, and dynamism in the organizational structure. I can say that the quality of education of UNP CBAA DBA Program is above par. Why? I am now the Vice President for Administration and Finance of Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, soon to be University of Ilocos Philippines and my graduate education played a vital role in shaping my leadership style and organizational skills—the reason I earned the respect of my appointing authority. Thank you UNP CBAA, particularly the DBA program.

"The values of UNPians are embedded in my DNA as an alumnus of the University of Northern Philippines. Along with quality education and valuable experience, UNP helped me break barriers in the United Arab Emirates to my journey in nursing leadership as a Filipino, a Bigueño, and a proud UNPian advocating for excellence in professional nursing practice. Academic freedom and giving students the opportunities they truly deserve are the things I sincerely appreciate in the College of Nursing. I encourage every graduate of the University to seize these opportunities to explore their potential to succeed in their professional endeavors."

“I can say that some of the best years in my life were spent at UNP-CTE. As a person who loves to set goals to achieve them, I am fortunate enough to have chosen CTE to mold and hone me into who I am right now. From a shy student to somebody who has been leading different organizations, CTE brought the best in me. CTE has taught me three important things: pedagogy, content, and leadership, and I will forever be grateful.”

“The strict retention policy of the UNP-CBAA Accountancy program pushed me to strive harder during my college days. As a result, the CPA title is not very impossible way back in 2015 when I took the CPA Licensure Examination. In fact, UNP is known for its Accountancy program in the region, having one of the highest passing rates which always exceeds the national passing rate. Today, I am very thankful that I trusted UNP’s Accountancy program as a bridge toward my dream of becoming a successful CPA.

“UNP College of Architecture has molded me into the person I am today. I firmly believe that it is the university that shapes us, rather than the other way around. While many exclusive and renowned universities may have access to the same reference materials on architecture, our unique connection to the Vigan heritage and our active involvement in heritage conservation practices sets us apart. Being the only female Asian graduate among my Filipino and Thai peers in my batch was an empowering experience. These experiences in a community that values diversity and promotes equality honed my architectural skills and developed a deep appreciation for heritage preservation. I am confident that my education and unique experiences at UNP have prepared me to make meaningful contribution to the world of architecture.”

“One thing that the college has successfully instilled in me is being an autonomous learner which eventually developed my personal autonomy (now as a professional). All the learning accountabilities and the self-taught learning practiced upon us were cognitively demanding. Apparently, I learned to self-assess and monitor my own learning progress. The freedom to choose, and having the agency over your choice and pace of learning may not as fun as it seems, but it made me more discerning and responsible. I am now living alone overseas with little to no support system but the autonomy I harbored in college got me through the position I was aiming right when I left my country. To my recollection, the outreach program of CTE-FTA in San Mariano, Bantay was not only a heartwarming experience but also an invigorating event where the leadership skills of a student like me were actuated. Such platform goes beyond what a mere classroom lecture and affective activities could impart. By that time (if I am not mistaken), our class was already introduced to 21st century education and the outreach program just explained to me what it meant by soft skill integration in learning. Of course, the last semester was one of the best: trying hard to impress while being economical with our materials was all fun.”

“The University of Northern Philippines, College of Architecture, is a transformative institution, boasting a growing community of renowned Architects and Builders. It was a life-changing experience that “designed” me of who I am today. As an ordinary student, fueled by the sacrifices of my hardworking parents who toiled under the scorching sun as farmers, I pursued my goals-our goals. Thanks to my mentors who lifted me up and provided invaluable guidance throughout my journey. College life offered more than learning or sleepless nights. Collaborating with classmates and supporting each other during tough times forged lasting friendships. The witty scrutiny of instructors added depth to the experience, making UNP College of Architecture one of the happiest and most memorable chapter of my life.”

“College life has offered me a myriad of experiences that greatly contributed to shaping the leader that I am today. I belong to Class 1999 of the Institute of Social Work in my beloved Alma Mater, University of Northern Philippines. After graduation, I immediately applied for a Social Worker position at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office I, where I slowly rose from the ranks of a Social Welfare Officer II Cost of Service Worker to Director III, designated as Assistant Regional Director of DSWD Field Office 3. I would not have made it this far without the solid foundation that my Alma Mater has given me. College life taught me to embrace opportunities, appreciate diverse perspectives, overcome challenges, seek guidance from mentors, and initiate positive change.”
